Leather, stitching, patience

We check every jacket by hand: the tone of the leather, the line of the stitching, the way the cut falls.

Back from military service, he starts his own business on 31 December 1979: childrenswear in Sultanhamam. The name is Popay.

    Osmanbey

A few years later the business moves to Samanyolu Street in Osmanbey. Today the street is called Hrant Dink Caddesi, and we are still on it. Popay's childrenswear brochure jokingly asks: “Do you eat lots of spinach to be strong like Popeye?”

    The tie years

After 15 years of childrenswear comes tie making. The Massi Milano name is born in these years as Popay's tie and accessories shop: imported ties, cufflinks, bow ties, wedding waistcoats, leather belts. The tie in the M emblem dates from those days.
